The OZ-Good Garden Project
If you grow some of your food in your yard or in a neighborhood/community garden, you do more than save money. Tough economic times call for creative thinking and self-reliance. Food prices rise in relation to the cost of oil. Large farms rely on tractors and supermarkets get their produce delivered by truck thus increasing the cost of our food.
Our South Troy neighborhood is blessed with large backyards and unutilized empty lots. Gardening isn’t difficult or time consuming. It puts you in sync with the annual and natural growth cycle, provides exercise, and you’ll have healthy food to enjoy.
The Oz-Good Garden Project will teach neighbors how to develop a successful and bountiful backyard garden. We’ll share information on improving the soil with composting, how to plant and grow vegetables, and we’ll work together to create garden partnerships.
If you have interest in this gardening movement, please contact Sid Fleisher at 518-272-1944. Leave a message and I’ll return your call.
Building Community and improving quality of life by sharing knowledge and skills to develop backyard garden projects.

Gardening can improve your health and well being in many ways. The work of planting and caring for your garden is good exercise. Growing your own vegetables will provide fresh organic food for your table and improve your health too. Exercise and fresh organic vegetables can lead to weight loss. All this will lower your risks for health problems like diabetes, obesity, cholesterol issues, and more.

Sid’s Monthly Garden Notes – February
Gardening is often a social activity. Turning over the soil is easier with help. Exchanging ideas about plants and methods, and encouraging your plants to grow are favorite gardener activities. Gardeners love to share their produce and trade recipes. Gathering together to feast and tell stories of the garden is always a reward.
