On July 25, 2009, almost 100 people throughout the day gathered on Franklin Street Alley at the rear of the Troy Area United Ministries building to apply their skills to a"paint by number" mural.  The image was created by a group of neighborhood youngsters, with the guidance of two accomplished Artists.  Barbara Nelson, an architect and muralist, Armando Soto a teacher and professional artist, and Kelly Dufell Troy High graduate and art student, gave the work of the kids the context, layout, and color needed to make this piece of public art respectable. 

Saturday, July 25 - Mural Painting Day -

We were on site at 7:30 AM with Channel 9 TV to get our event onto the daily news briefs.  People began to arrive by 8:30 ready to put paint onto the paint-by-numbered drawing on the 50' x 15' east wall of the TAUM building(Troy Area United Ministries).  The weather cooperated perfectly and everyone participated in whatever way they were comfortable.  Newspaper coverage of our event was  complete and positive.  Check out these sites for articles.
